And even that might not save you with virus scanning technology. Newer stuff has to be stopped by quarantining all 'dangerous' content types, or extracting those components of a document that can be hazardous (if that can be done; an example of this approach is converting html to rtf to drop script).
Virus scanning is better than doing nothing, but you should not think you're safe (or even "probably safe"!!) if you do it; even if your updates are on a push (as opposed to poll and pull) basis...
actually until virii start auto-executing under mozilla(haven't yet) then the virus scanning is all i need......i do not use IE/OE/Outlook on any machine in my network..[:)]
