Help with PPPoE connection

Im having problems maintaining a PPPoE connection to my DSL Provider (Primus in Canada if that matters any.)

I can remain connected anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours, mostly a few minutes.

This is the contents of my daemon log for the last couple of disconnects.

I have tried a couple fixes on the board here, including changing the /var/chroot-pppoe/usr/sbin/pppoe file to a different version found on these boards, and adding a line to a options file for the pppoe connection (the exactly line escapes me at the moment unfortunatly...)

I had the exact same problem with Smoothwall 1.0, well more or less anyways, smoothwalls logs are nowhere near as good as Astaro's, but it still did the frequent dissconnects.

A few weeks ago I actually got a new modem because speed tests showed line noise and the new modem was supposed to fix it, but it really did nothign, now my ISP wants me to go through all kinds of crap for them to do any more tests.

At the moment only the modem is connected to a phone line, and the only thing I haven't done is test the modem with a windows based machine.

Any hints would be much appreciated.

    Looks like you have a basically problem with your DSL-line. Is the connection stable using Windows?

    You could try to disable the dead-peer detection or you could increase the threashold for the echo-requests.

    edit /var/chroot-pppoe/etc/ppp/options
    lcp-echo-interval 5
    lcp-echo-failure 6

    Change it to:
    lcp-echo-interval 30
    lcp-echo-failure 10

    OR:
    #lcp-echo-interval 5
    #lcp-echo-failure 6

    I did not tested that, but maybe your connection will be more stable by doing that. But I guess your DSL-line has a basically problem.
