Yeah, with each ISO release and VERY LATE up2date to follow, and absolutely no further word from Astaro, I grow extremely frustrated as a user. When does my license expire? I see OpenBSD and PF returning in my future...
Well, I do not know what all the fuss is about? if someone has problems with 4.016 the he can use 4.015. I do not know of any burning issues in 4.015 (I could be wrong ofcourse).
And for those of you wanting to go back to BSD, well go ahead ... if you have the time (and will) to do everything by hand I see no reason to use ASL at all.
I mean with all the "terrible" service they have been providing.
as such, it appears, per the bug list, there are many issues addressed in 4.016, especially pertaining to VPN/PPTP. unfortunately, i'm impatient and expect some reasonable level of communication from vendors. i also prefer to update through up2date vs. ISO, as the complete backup, reinstall, restore process causes significantly greater downtime. sure, openbsd incurs self-management and maintenance; however, when patches are released, it's up to me to apply them -- i don't have to sit around and speculate as to when they'll be available... anyhow, i'm not intending to begin any sort of flamewar; i just wish that astaro would keep us apprised of what is happening moreso than they currently do.
I too am waiting for 4.0.16 up2date for the same reasons you are: VPN/PPTP. However, I'm waiting because i'm too lazy to backup my configuration, install 4.0.16 and then restore. I really want VPN/PPTP, so I am still running on 4.0.7.
If you spent the time to do an upgrade using the ISO instead of complaining on here, you would save yourself some time.
They ran into a problem with some RAID arrays (Compaq) not working anymore with 4.016 and have to fix that. I would rather wait knowing it will be done correct then try the Up2date and then find out after a reboot my system doesn't work anymore.
That could just be me though. If you don't have one of these arrays, then why not just do the ISO install and then restore?? Seriously.... I am a paying customer and I do not mind one bit.......
