T-DSL with no Flatrate

Hello,

is it possible to connect to des Internet Service Provider with DSL if I don´t have a Flatrate?

The Router I use now, disconnects from the provider after a certain time with no traffic.

Can I manage this in Secure Linux too?

unfortunately Astaro Security Linux is designed for flat rates (always on) only.

Hello 30Frank,

I think it's not a problem. Don't use ASL to establish ur internet connection. Take ur router as gateway of the ASL and stop the broadcasts with packetfilters. If it's configured well ur router still open the connection if it's necessarily.

... you should also stop the connection checking from als to internet (google.com).
simply edit /var/chroot-squid/etc/control.request to localhost.

O.K. should have said ASL ITSELF is designed for flat rates ;-)

Broadcasts are no problem since they are blocked at the firewall anyway.
The Up2Date service should also be turned off.
