PPOe NOt Working

the firewall will not connect using ppoe....winpoet will connect as well as willl my old trusty di-604....i have recently reinstalled astaro from scratch as i tried to switch it from cable to dsl and it died...now with ASL 4.08 ppoe does not work..any ideas?

    wlel i tired with the latest update and no go..the firewall refuses to connect to my dsl line.   again winpoet works and so does my di-604 router so the issue is with astaro..any ideas?

    grr..can login but copying a file to my computer fails..and trying to ocpy a ifle from my computer jsut times out....i have generated hte key..the system only allows me to login as loginuser..root or su do not work(even though i am using hte correct password). 

    how do you morph to root under winscp after connecting under loginuser?

    If you use tools like WinSCP2, login as loginuser and copy the file to /home/login. The loginuser has the correct rights for this directory. After that login via SSH (using putty or similar) as loginuser and switch to root using 'su -'. Now you can copy the file from /home/login to it's final destination and if needed change the access rights.

    now naother question..what is hte extension of the pppoe patch?  cannot get asl or iwndows to tell me what it is and ASL is saying no such file for directory without knowing hte extension.

    no such file or directory? Have you copied the file over to /var/chroot-pppoe/usr/sbin ? there is no extention for that file, (linux doesnt require them like windows does). You should SCP it across and do the following:

    cd /var/chroot-pppoe/usr/sbin
    mv pppoe pppoe.bakup
    cp /home/login/pppoe /var/chroot-pppoe/usr/sbin

    then you have to make the new file executable by ASL doing this:
    chmod +x pppoe




    that should put the ppoe you scp'd into your asl  into the directory it needs to be and make it ready for use. if you have problems, post here with speicfics as to where you are and what problem you are having and ill help you through it..

    welp..did all that..and ASL refuses to connect...JIC it is a problem withmy config of 4.015 i am starting from 4.00 and trying to connect with 4.00 and go version by version and see which one it breaks at..hopefully i can help track this bug down.

    p-2 350
    196 megs pc-100
    9 gig ide drive
    3c905b nic(internal interface)
    linksys lne 100 tx nic(external interface)
