Feature request for FW

It might come in handy to make some og the FW's things run in a cron-like way. I'm running this network at a school, and it would be very nice to say block all traffic from (one of the) private networks at certain hours.

Would that be a possibility?

    Welcome to the club, and don't hesitate to use that Search button from now on. It's been heavily discussed and they are seriously considering it for the next version. If you (or someone you know) is Linux literate and responsible, you can modify the rules which are contained in a text file to be altered from a script scheduled with -cron!! [Those discussions are to be confined to the Hackers forum]. I would ask Astaro sales if they are close to releasing it. If they are, I would recommend that you wait (unless you really need it right away...)

    An excellent idea, and in the commercial world there's a great need for something like this.  For example, my clients occasionally have the need for a software support technician to access a machine remotely for repairs or upgrades.  There is a serious HUMAN security flaw in creating access for this -- it's too easy to forget to remove it.  What is needed is a "self-destruction" capability for things like rules, DNAT settings, and user accounts.  Give someone a few hours' access, or a few days, and then -poof- they're gone.  All too often, we're focused on technical security, when sometimes it's human security that can be a real "gotcha".
