Feature-Request: Admin-Comments

hi, we're testing Astaro for some days now.

There's a feature I miss: I'ld like do add comments to "objects" like Hosts (Networks) and IP Filter Rules.

I've found out that it is better to leave  "Packet Filter /ICMP"  "all red",  and to  activate these features in the "Rules" section. In ICMP, I had unpredictable results...

But I cannot put a note/comment in the "ICMP" Menü to tell my co-admin not to touch the setup... too bad.


Support for more than admin at the same time, and one after another is missing. When there are two or three admins,  you can't see in the Rules list, who was the one that added a Rule .

    They are well aware of this shortcoming. They hope to have it in the next version (no that's not a cliche!). When they do add it, maybe they could also have an audit trail file with timestamps for the rules and comments as they are changed? For those times when you have separate admin shifts and you're trying to figure out which one was the monkey that day??

    As for Admin profiles, they have certainly been asked, but I think that one is not as high priority (since most of the the present customer base does not need it). But I'm sure they would like to have that too...

    As for the ICMP, I've found rules to work for me. Maybe you can give us more specifics? If you do it by rules, though, you really have to think of every rule it will need for that to work (sometimes filter rules are not as simple as you might think...)
