defuncts

i have several defuncts on my asl

nobody   18824  0.0  0.0     0    0 ?        Z    Sep25   0:00 [dhttpd ]

nobody   19992  0.0  0.0     0    0 ?        Z    Sep25   0:00 [dhttpd ]

nobody    1358  0.0  0.0     0    0 ?        Z    08:07   0:00 [dhttpd ]

root     25229  0.0  0.0     0    0 ?        Z    08:33   0:00 [aua.bin ]

root     25870  0.0  0.0     0    0 ?        Z    09:30   0:00 [cron ]

how does asl handles defuncts. can i kill those defuncts my self and could it be a problem for the asl.

defunct is a designation for a proc that exited and has not yet been reaped by his parent.

The defuncts shouldn't be a problem by themselves. The question is what was the reason for them to become defunct. Do not kill these proccesses. They will be reaped when their parents exit or restart.
