Request for P2P / FileSharing blocking module

Don't a lot of the newer P2P apps use port 80 though? That makes it really difficult to block them. That's why products like Packeteer's Packetshaper are so expensive. They examine all of the traffic and are still able to filter out or cap P2P traffic even if it's on port 80. 

We'd have to turn it over to our guys in the ASL Hacker's forum, but, check this out  here. 

It's a layer 7 "packet classifier" that can do what you're talking about. The only thing is trying to get it integrated into ASL. I'd be interested if someone has any luck with this. 

Kazaa is running through port 80 to override firewall solutions. You will need a packet inspector look for familiar patterns to block p2p/filesharing. 

I have managed to block most networks using Squid+Dansguardian, however this solution is not an "intelligent" solution.

I would like to see the Astaro have a module to block this kind of traffic based on packet inspection. Or a solution for the users to add packet patterns for blocking.
