Question about Accounting

Hi all,

I configured the accounting daemon to listen on the internal interface of my astaro (v4), queried network is the internal network. But the traffic shown in the reports are much different from the traffic data of my ISP!!! 

The accounting report for yesterday shows a total traffic of 88 MB, my ISP told me about up to 720MB (outgoing only)!!

Now i'm a little bit confused about how astaro calculates the traffic??
What can i do to get correct traffic data???

Please help me, 'cause this is critical for me...

    Do you have some other Networks from where some data could come? Why you aren't listening on the external NIC? Try to listen on the external interface where all the data to your ISP should cross the kable.

    Hi,

    I'm listening on the internal NIC 'cause i activated masquerading. It's important to know which internal hosts produces which amount of traffic. The manuel says that's not possible with masquerading rules.

    For testing i switched to external interface, i hope this gets me better traffic data.

    If you are listening on the internal interface you do not have the traffic from the proxy included. If you listen on the external interface you have all the traffic, but not the internal IPs. To cover all you have to make more than only one accounting. You know what I mean?

    Yes, if you just add both the internal and external interfaces, then you'll get more complete reporting, and it will be broken into categories so it's easily understandable still.
