Up2date 4.010 - MiddleWare not running

Hello,

I just applied Up2date 4.010; Almost instantly I got an email saying "MiddleWare not running".  I rebooted the ASL box to see if that would correct the problem, however, it did not.  I continue to get emails saying that MiddleWare is not running (restarted 59 times, etc).

Also, I have noticed that the box is VERY slow in response when in the web management.  When I disable the SMTP proxy the response returns to normal.

Anyone else seeing this?

    hi all,

    can you please go into detail? is the middleware running after a 'clean' reboot? if not, can you logon to the box and find out if other processes are running?

    did you change anything on this machines?

    I just got done wiping the box and reloading ASL.  All is well now.  (I have not updated it to 4.010 yet)

    Nothing has changed on this boxes config since the 4.009 patch.  All that I did was apply the 4.010 patch and everything went to hell.

    As I said previously Middleware stopped responding and would not start (even after repeated clean reboots).  Instantly I lost my VPN connections and the SMTP proxy stopped processing new mail; however, masquerading was still working. (Until the reboot -- and then nothing was accessible including webadmin)

    I wish I could go into more detail with you about this issue.  It was almost 2am when this happened... I could not leave it down for long because of the email.

    What I will do is setup a test ASL install using my spare server and restore my config from 4.009 to it and try to up2date to 4.010 again.  I will let you know what I find.

    Hi everyone,
    I had nearly the same problem on my machine. With 4.009 everything was running well. I installed the update to 4.010. Directly after the update I had some problems with the pop3 proxy, so I decided to reboot the machine. After the reboot I couldn't connect or get data through all the interfaces. If I tried to reboot the machine after that from the console, but the shutdown process stopped when linux was trying to stop iptables. Another point that I saw is that ASL didn't show the ip address anymore on the console after the upgrade to 4.010. Nomally I see the configuration IP adress above the login prompt on the console.
    Finallly I reinstalled ASL completly to get a connection to the internet again. Now I'm running 4.009 again - hopefully some will find the problem with the 4.010 update!

    Aug 12 10:05:00 (none) dhcpd: receive_packet failed on eth0: Network is down
    Aug 12 10:05:08 (none) sockd[16366]: fixsettings(): no internal address given
    Aug 12 10:05:08 (none) sockd[16366]: sockdexit(): terminating

    I logged in and restarted ASL via webmin.
    I got the confirmation:
    System Restart has been initiated
    BUT
    System did not restart.  I reloaded webmin and got the message that Admin is already logged on.  So no restart obviously.

    Red interface also shows as DOWN even though I am connecting via the Red interface  

    IPSEC VPN shows as up and running.

    About to try SSH reboot command.
