Maybe someone has have this situation before and can help me. We like to sell astaro to our customers. Can anyone tell me some pro's of astaro and cons of ISA Server. Thanks .
Stay away from MS ISA Server. ISA Server only works in a MS domaine, closely integrated with MS ADS. Goes anything wrong here u lost in deep space... (reinstall ADS) Futhermore ASL can run on nearly outdated hardware, whereas MS ISA Server requeres a rather fast/new computer. Secondly try to look at the license, then you have no futher questions. ASL IS THE BEST if you look at price/performance for a firewall to small to medium company's.
The biggest benefit I can see that ASL offers that most other firewalls do not is the ability to do Dynamic Network Address Translation(DNAT). I have been into the security scene for 5 years and have played around with numerous firewalls. The only other firewall solution that I have used that matches the reliability and security of ASL is securepoint firewall (This is very hard to set up IMOH as it was developed by German engineers).

Uhm.... Last time I checked, Astaro is also a german company
One of the worst drawbacks to MS ISA is it's intergrated, meaning as anything MS does if one part is compromised the entire system is. With ASL the box is seperate and not intergrated with your OS on your other boxes making harder to penetrate. The active directory idea is a good example of compromised security. Once a hacker is in the active directory you can hang up your domain.
I am aware of that. I suppose I didn't elaborate enough. I speak English and know nothing of German. When I installed ASL their English manuals were easy to understand. Last time I installed SecurePoint (release 2.0 i believe) they were still working on documentation in English and most of the menus on the firewall during configuration were all in German. That is what I meant to say.
The latest version of securepoint has an english version. I am not advertising it, I tested it, and for some one new to security etc... I found this (astaro) easier to use. Lets put it this way I am still using ASL.
