ASL4 slow systemstart - slow web interface

why ASL4?

a systemstart with ASL4 takes 10 minutes ore more
with ASL3 1-2 minutes
(celeron 1.7)

the webinterface is fast enough with ASL3 - and it works stable

the ASL4 webinterface is sometimes faster an sometimes
slower then the ASL3 webinterface - when its slower than
really slow - or it show me an error and i have to reload and login new

    why not an ASL3 with new features?

    what are your experience with ASL4?

    My ASL 4.009 on a Pentium 2 -450 MHz and 360MB of RAM only takes about 3 minutes to fully boot up.

    The webinterface is also MUCH faster than the 3.2 one ever was. 

    Not sure why you could be having such problems on a fast machine like that.

    You are saying it takes 10 minutes before the ASL beeps at you to let you know it is up? [:)]

    ASL 4.xxx is MUCH faster than 3.xxx

    The web interface is around 5 times faster if not more.

    if i shutdown the computer there are several failures
    stopping iptables and other daemons failed

    the next restart shows me (filesystemcheck hda7)
    the message: curious 8259a interrupt IRQ7

    i had 5 RTL8139C network cards in the computer

    i removed 4 of it but the errors still exists

    now i try to install asl new with 2 network cards
    maybe the failure is an irq problem

    (in the bios are all serial, parallel,usb... disabled to have
    more irqs free) on another computer i had no problem with
    5 nic's

    I was thinking the problem sound more like hardware than software.

    I am assuming you are using 4.09, which i found to be extremely fast with much less processing power than you are using.

    Infact i am thinking about going lower because what i have is an overkill.
