VPN Question (Newbie)

I'm evaluating astaro as a home solution and I have a couple of questions about how to setup and access a VPN using astaro. 

My goal is to install astaro on firewall_box to protect access to server_box. I then wish to connect to server_box from a remote notebook using VPN. firewall_box and server_box will both be linux and remote notebook will be win2k

Do I need a special VPN client for the notebook?
Will astaro's remote IPsec client work, and if so, is it free also?

Do I also need to install the same or some other VPN software on server_box, or does astaro on my firewall_box handle the VPN portion and then forward the packets, unencrypted to server_box?

I would appreciate any help.

    Suggest you VPN to the ASL box from Notebook using the VPN client.  You can configure ASL so the Notebook will be able to see IP of your internal server.

    Check the documentation forum.

    The easiest way to do what you ask is with a PPTP connection to the ASL box using the RoadWarrior VPN feature in ASL. Then just use a dial-up vpn connection from the Win box that is built in.

    You can also use the ipsec features of Win2k, but I have never tried so I can't tell you how. Setting up ipsec on Win2k is much different then doing it in linux.
