I'm running DHCP on my pubic interface in order to DHCP my address from my provider. Ever since upgrading to Astaro 4.0 this interface looses connectivity every few days. If I restart the DHCP client or restart Astaro (effectively the same thing) DHCP works and I get connected again. It's not the ISP timing me out because I use icmpmonitor to ping their DNS servers to assure I'm connected. I know that my ISP will stop passing traffic for me if I don't constantly renew my lease. It's like the Astaro DHCP client works to get the address, goes into the background and seems to be working but then just seems to gives up attending to the lease. When I experience this problem dhcpcd is still running however a restart of the dhcpcd process is the only way to get connectivity back. If I can't find a problem to this I might be forced to downgrade to Astaro 3.0 (No!!!) or install icmpmonitor on the Astaro firewall and have it restart dhcp if it can't ping. Neither is a particularly elegant solution.
Anyone have any thoughts? I managed to adjust the configuration of Astaro so that it would log dhcpc requests etc and that hasn't shed any light onto the problem.
