boot failure asl 4.02

Hi all,

While SCP'ing iso's to FTP server in DMZ (appx 1.8 gig)
System locked up.
On Reboot, console indicates:
Loading Default.....
Uncompressiong Linux .....
ran out of input data
--system halted

It happened once before and I rebuilt the system.
Any clues on what causes this?

ASL 4.02, PII-450, 256 RAM, 4 gig SCSI, Intel 4-port NIC.
