fsck of all fs on every boot? wtf?

Why are you rebooting so often? 

It's not that I'm rebooting so often, but if for some reason I need to (or am forced to by an outage of some sort) I don't want to have to wait for every filesystem on a 40Gb disk to be checked. It's senseless. And the behaviour should be controllable.  

I don´t undertsand why you reboot so often.I never reboot my ASL box.And every unix version of systems do an control if some files has bean corupt then you stop a machine in wrong way.Learn more about unix system and you will know why your ASL box will check files. 

I have to agree with the others who are questioning why you would reboot so often... tho I suppose  I also can see your point, despite disagreeing with it...

The reality is that a reboot (at least for me) takes less than 1 minute, even with the fsck on all fs's. 

Now, considering that aside from the configuration that you do, the firewall is supposed to be as self-sufficient as possible, the argument to do the fsck at boot every time is certaily valid, in my view... Why add overhead trying to figure out if the system was shutdown cleanly last time, when you can just assume it wasn't and do the fsck and be sure, and catch any problems that may be there - look, if the fs is clean, the fsck will shoot right by, and if it isn't, and you were unaware of the fs problems, you'll be thankful....
