Backup-Restore from a Windows network-share: Problem!

I found a nice minor "bug" when I tried to import my backup to the new ASL 4.0 over a network-share.
I am on a Windows Workstation running Windows XP SP1 and I stored my Backup on a Windows 2000 Server in my Network (Network-Share).
When I try to import my old Backup I choose the Browse Button in the WebAdmin Interface and I am able to browse to the Backup-File on the Share. When I then try to import this Password-Protected Backup-File I am asked fot the password.
So far, so good, but nothing happens after the correct password had been entered. I tried again and again and then I just copied the Backup-File to my loakl Workstation and repeaded the procedure and ... it worked.
I have no idea why it didn't work to restore from the network share, but maybe it's a useful hint if someone has the same problem.

I import my backup file without any problem.I have winxp sp1 on my machine

But do you import it directly from this machine or through this machine from a local network share. That's the point. A direct import works, but I store my backup-files on a central server (win2k) and tried to import it from thare through my workstation (winxp) using a network share. That didn't work and there was no error message. It just didn't work after entering the password (decryption).

Did you try to map the share FIRST and then uploading the file?

It may work.

I have my backup on a local server but i use linuxmachine for server.And it works for me to share backup files for me.

Jui,

what is your browser/version? I recognized that behaviour
with IE 5.x browsers and thought it is gone since
version 6.
Anyway it is a very good idea to be paranoid with those
backup files. You should always test it through importing
directly after exporting, clicking once start so that the
checksum can be verified. Please Note, click only once start,
the second click woul install it! :-)
In addition you should create a md5sum from the the
working backup, so later you you can be sure that it is still O.K.

Ok!
I am using IE 6 on windows XP SP1 with all Serviceupdates installed.
The Network-Share is not mapped to a Driveletter.

The UNC-Path is very short, it's like

\saturn\archive\backup

The same file copied to the local machine and import worked just fine.

you should really try to map the network share BEFORE uploading the config file. That shold get rid of the problem....

If you don't map the network share, how long is the path to the file?? maybe it's too long...
