Wireless card not starting

I am atempting to use a DWL650 802.11B wireless card along with PCMCIA adapter on 4.383 beta. On boot I get the message "Starting PCMCIA service" on the next line "Failed", and the wireless adapter is not ditected. Does anyone have any ideas on how to correct this?

    used a different computer and the wireless card now gets ditected, but whenever I try to configure it the interface locks up and I have to reboot the computer for it to work. still working on getting the wireless interface going.
