realy need help

for some time i wrote :

qos on internel interface ( i read this here in the forum)
2 realtek 8139 internal int

my problem:

after ~ 6 h the firewall hangs up on the external interface , i can log into the dmz via ssh and on the firewall, but i can not
make any http , ftp and so on request , the external interface is
up ( webmin) and i can use webminso the firewall seems to live.

after a reboot everything is allright for ~ 6 h

 for know i disabled qos,  checked bios, check irqs.

every pci cars has it´s own irq no dma or other problems...

but the firwall hangs up...  internal interfaces can be reached , extern not (network unreachable)

    the daemon log located in /var/log would be much
    more interesting. Check the output for pppd and pppoe.

    hi oliver,

    i changed the network card (8129) now its a 8139...

    but i have the same problem. the inface in webmin is 
    down !  [:(]  and that after 4 h. 
    maybe we should take a close look to this, i have no idea what i can do so far for now..

    Sounds like your ISP is hanging up the PPoE line and ASL is not noticing?  Is is happening at exactly 6 hours or perhaps during time of no traffic?
    Definetly don't want QOS with PPoE.

    hi pablito , oliver,

    the external interface hangs up agin.. but the time
    now was 5 days. after these days i have to reebot the firewall.
    and today i have to reboot again.. that after 1 day and 15 min.

    i have no idea ... ISP ? firewall ? maybe, olive,r would you like to look into the log files? the firewall is running for some weeks, after reinstalling.
    maybe you can find something ...

    hi @ all,

    it seems like, the firewall do not regonize the ip change from ISP.

    after 12 h the isp cuts off the line.. and after that the interface don´t come up again...

    any help for this ?

    Can you post your ISP name so someone with knowledge of them can add some comments?

    Can you have a machine generate a small amount of traffic on a regular interval?  When I had this problem with ISDN years ago I had a machine send 2 pings to a machine at the ISP every couple of hours.  This kept the line up.

    If the problem is the PPoE engine then ASL needs to make sure it is able to handle changes in line state.  Most PPoE drivers have options for these situations.  Maybe it is time to add more options.

    Frankly, business lines are usually static.  Up here Bell is offering a PPoE business class service.  Same as the home version but legal for a business.

    the provider called isis/ arcor. it´s a city carrier here in germany ..
    thats all i can say about...

    the dsl line is down 1,5 mbit   up 256 kbit.

    (maybe an option in webmin , where it´s possible to bring up the interface would be nice also...
