SSH loginuser/password reset?

Hello,

how can the password for the loginuser necessary for SSH connects be reset? It seems that the usual password we used doesn't work anymore? Admin access via the https-Webinterface still works.

Can you access the box via a console and login as root?

Then type passwd loginuser

Should allow you to reset.

No, console access tells me that the password for root is wrong as well :/ I think I need to reinstall Astaro, saving the settings before. Will this work?

do a backup and you should be fine..... i think there is no way of changing password without reinstalling.....

Usual option when the password was lost: boot off another Linux CD (with Reiser-FS support), mount the root partition and delete the password(s) from /mnt/etc/shadow

Thanks for all the input, we've now finally decided to do a clean reinstall and by the same time substituting the underlying machine.
