Accounting errors when I am not even running it...

Greetings,

I turned on accounting a while back just to check it out, and then later disabled it.

Now, every few hours or so, I get a message saying that the accounting service was not running, and that the system would restart it for me.

I turned it off because I don't want it to run; how do I keep the system from trying to turn it back on?

  • Have you tried deleting the interfaces ASL should listen on, before disabling?

If it does not help, enable accounting on an Interface with continuous traffic on it. ASL will alwas restart accounting if there is very low traffic. That was a known problem even in the ASL 2.x Version.

  • Hmm.  I only have two interfaces, and with all the rules and everything I have set up it would seem that deleting one of them would be a bad thing.

You think it's ok to do so when there are DNAT and packet filter rules based on that interface?
