Is ASL derived form ipchains/iptables?

Hello,everyone,
   Is there any one konws the origin of ASL,and whether it is derived from ipchain/iptable,or something else.Does it make a GUI surface by perl language which call the ipchain/iptables,or anything else?

    ASL is built on a Linux 2.4 kernel.  So it uses iptables for packet filtering.  Uses Squid for http proxy, Apache for the webserver, Uses Exim (Astaro 3.2) for smtp proxy (older asl uses qmail), and I believe but not positive on this one maybe someone else can confirm this that it does use perl for the webinterface.
