I have a VERY bad problem, and my days are numbered.  Out of the blue today my internet just quit... no warning.  I haven't touched Astaro in days or messed with it.  Everything has been great.  When I admin into my Astaro box, I notic that my normal IP (12.X.X.X) has changed to a private network IP (10.X.X.X).  My ISP is all 12.whatever.  I have NO clue how DHCP picked that up.

Why does Astaro not have a release/renew IP funciton in webadmin?  Anyway, I am only here now because I just happened to remember my old IP, and I know the formatting of the gateway, so I made it all static and got on.  It's only a matter of days (or less) when my DHCP lease goes out, though, that I'll be toasted.  Why oh WHY is DHCP pulling some bloody 10.X network?!??!!?!  Is there some way I can force DHCP to release / renew (ssh works fine to me as well).  I went so far as to even rebuild my astaro box from scratch again and reinstate a config i saved a week or 2 back when everything was jsut perfect.

I noticed I could ping my old DNS servers and my default gateway (the 12. one) with the 10. IP, but I could not do a thing.  This is not right... what's the deal????

PLEASE HELP!  (sorry if i'm panicing... i'm running on borrowed time and it's a mattter of days and I'm TOAST).

    Earlier it was 3.206 I think... now it is the latest (3.208 I believe).  Just a quick run down.  On a home network.  Cable modem to public Astaro NIC out private Astaro NIC to a switch which is home to 2 windows XP machines and a Linux machine.  Just a simple, small home network.  Everything has been just great.  Masquerading working, a couple DNAT definitions, a few small rules... all has been well.  All machines on the network are static IP (that's beside the point).  I have had my Astaro box setup for DHCP with my cable provider as they only operate via DHCP.  It HAD been working great... even today.  The last few days my modem has been disconnecting, so I have to reset it.  This is something I've done for a LONG time (when it happens) and things always come back just happy.  Well on ONE occasion, I rebooted the mode, it came back online, and... no internet.  Was frustrating.  Rebooted it a few more times, restarted Astaro, then looked at eth1 IP... it changed.  Where it should have been 12.whatever (the IP's my ISP uses here), it was 10.whatever (and that's *supposed* to be for private networks only, right?).  So anyway, I cannot for the life of me make DHCP get the proper IP.  It insists on that 10.one.

    At the time it happened, aside from resetting the modem, I was not toying with any network things.  Just normal day to day routine... think i was going to chill with a game after a long day at work.  Anyway, I thankfully remembered my old IP, we have a 24 bit subnet, and our gateway scheme follows our IP w/last number set as 1.  I got back online and am now, but I am certain when my DHCP lease at the ISP expires, this IP may go elsewhere and I'll be SOL.  I half wondered if it was my ISP, but I talked with my brother-in-law and all was well for him.  Something must be awry on the Astaro box, though I know not what... it still pulled some odd 10. IP even after re-imaging the astaro box (and before reinstating the old config as I tested out eth0 real quick with a fresh install... same 10. story).

    I am at a TOTAL loss... and fear my days leaching my IP in a static way is numbered.  S.O.S. to someone!1

    I'm not sure why this would be happening.
    I have ADSL with an IP assigned to me via DHCP and it seems to be working fine for me.
    If you have the interface set to auto get a IP via DHCP it should work.  Yes a "Renew DHCP connection" button would be great but there isn't one yet though quite a few ppl have requested this so it may be forthcoming in the future.

    All's I can suggest is that you contact Astaro admins if rebooting your box does not work to renew the lease... Hopefully someone more clued will be able to help you.
