How to get rid of: 'Allocating to much swap' ???

The message first, but i think most of you know it already:

How can I get rid of this irritating     swap-file?
Extra memory or speed or space is NOT the solution!!!

Anyone any idea????  [:S]

    3.041 is a beta version and not even the latest, go to 3.202!

    Swap file is used when the system runs out of memory, although its not that simple, but from what I remember beta testing all the betas has some memory leak bugs in them, however alot depends on how much memory the system has to start with. 3.x really needs a minimum of 128MB and with a busy network with all proxies running I wouldn't use less that 256MB

    Since the last patch to Version 3.202 I have noticed an increase in the stability of the network, PPPoE, and the memory problems   [:)]  

    Since the last update I have been running for 10  days without a single PPPoE IP problem (which was a big problem. hehe) or Services that seem to be leaking memory.

    Looking good from my 4 machines.

    Hi there, 

    I figured out that if you have very large packetfilter log files, a process processing these logfiles could take that much swap and cpu time.

    During what time do those notifications come?

    Have you a lot entries in the packetfilter log files?

    I would also suggest upgrading to the latest stable version, there has been a lot of fixes.
