snmpd swallowing my CPU

try to restart snmpd "/etc/rc.d/snmpd restart"
and check if it blows up again!

I killed the process via 'kill ' the superdaemon started it up again and it's back to 80%
I've also tried rebooting several times and it always returns to 80-84%

I tried restarting the process and it seems to have corrected the issue. Thanks for your swift response!
On a side note. The utilization charts are seriously out of date now. It seems this had been going on for some time.

It seems the clean restart of snmpd was only a temporary fix. The process is spiking to 80% of the CPU again. Anyway I can fix this permantly?

snmpd collects all kind of system informations,
e.g. counting amount of data passing the NIC.
What is your average network load?

It turns out snmpd was not the TRUE source of the problem. The forums discussed qmail being a major culprit in the webmin slow down. There were a number of processes running under qmail. I restarted the service, it failed and terminated. I started qmail and it seemed to come up okay. The box has been runnnig for over a day and the snmp daemon hasn't runaway since restarting qmail. Thanks for your help.
