This can often be caused by using a machine with a very slow hard drive, like an old IDE one, it causes a stall when squid goes to get the data off the drive.
The HD cant be the problem, because I m using an ATA 100 HD and the Box itself is a PIII 800 and has 512MB RAM. I now figured out that I got similar problems with other machines in to DMZ connected to the ASL Gateway. On one machine I only get 10 kb/s and on the other 50 kb/s. Even if the NICs are set to 10Mbit half duplex, I should get a lot more than 50kb/s. Any other ideas?

To be more exactly: We´ve got one machine that got trouble with slow connects inside the DMZ (10kb/s). Another machine in a seperate DMZ but connected to the same ASL got transfer rates about 50 kb/s. A third machine connected to a third DMZ got transfer rates up to 5 MB/s. The strange thing is that all machines got the same configuration. We tried to force several transfer modes (100/10MBit, full / half duplex) but without luck. Additionally there´s the problem with the squid enabled in transparent mode as described before.
