Any anti-spam protection on Astaro?

The following is available:

Sender address verification and RBL (real time blackhole list)

This works only when using the SMTP proxy. You must have your own mailserver running behind the firewall.

This is from the online helpfile:

When you activate the Sender address verification, the "From:" addresses of incoming emails will be checked for consistency. Typically, it will be checked if the senders domain exists. When this check fails, the incoming mail is rejected. 

The Realtime Blackhole List feature can be used to check external databases for "known" spammer hosts. There are several free services of that kind offered on the internet. There is also a very reliable, commercial service available at http://www.mail-abuse.org. Using this option can further reduce the number of unsolicited email received.

I believe that it will do rbl.  But to tell you the truth, that is a task much better suited for the actual email server. 

If you are running a unix based email  system, I recomend running spamassain.  It is a procmail based spam checker that is quite good and flexible,

Alot of people I know (including myself) block the APNIC address blocks. since most spam comes from open relays in Asia, and none of us do business with people in Asia, we can safely wall off these address blocks. 
I've set my  packet filter to Log-Reject them so I can see whats hitting me. (i'd recommend turning it to Reject after awhile)

Hi all,

I can't recommend to use mail-abuse.org because it is to strict and blocks me as ASTARO-user.

We use pppoe with t-online.de as ISP and also use the SMTP-server with viruscheck for outgoing mail.
We could not reach our customers that use mail-abuse.org without setting smtp-routes to the t-online.de mail-relay.

I want to use the viruscheck,but I don't want to set a special route for more costumers.

Just remember that APNIC also deals with Australia, New Zealand and other parts of the world. I suspect that New Zealand is not the capital of anything other than sheep, but definitely not spam. I do not think I have ever recieved SPAM from New Zealand...

I have also found that some of the RBL lists can be somewhat over-enthusiastic with their entries.

Currently I have had great effect using these two:

Open Relay RBL: relays.ordb.org
Known Spammers: sbl.spamhaus.org

ordb info is at  www.ordb.org 
spamhaus info is at  www.spamhaus.org

I try to use the ordb openrelay but it does not seems to work.
I use the test provided at there website (sending a mail and then see if you receive one or two mails)

What could be wrong? Do I need to do anything else?
