Next realease of 3.2... When ?

I second this!!! I have used astaro in the past and loved it then my ISP started forcing DHCP so I have been using another product that is not as flexable or offers the features that astaro does. I would hope the release comes soon  

I'm going to stick my hand up here and say that I have been patiently waiting for the manual, which has yet to emerge. Some kind of release schedule would be nice, so we at least have some idea of what to expect when. Is anybody from Astaro listening anyway? Hellooooooo out there.   

There is a catch 22 here... The manual needs to wait until the features are there, and the features are not there until they are beta tested. And in some cases beta testing needs to have the manual... Repeat as required.

I would guess that they are holding off on the manual until things are finalised. Remember 3.200 is still beta. Things still need to change (such as dedicating a network port to high availability and some illogical things with accounting)... Personally I think we need to wait until the product becomes non-beta before demanding the manual

ASL 3.2 first appeared not as a beta version, but an RC (release candidate) - which means "if there are no show-stopping bugs, we ship it".

Since then, Astaro have publically announced the 3.2 product, and are selling licences to use it.

In either circumstance, the documentation should be available. After all, at this stage it's not as if they have to pulp 20,000 books if they discover an error...

I would settle for fixes of the RC code and then the manual but I think all of the points brought out here are valid... is there some form of a relase schedule somewhere????

No, there's no release schedule anywhere, which I think is a major problem. The closest thing to a schedule is this announcement

which says that the manual and the 2.026=>3.2 up2date will be available by the 2nd week of June. So far no manual and no revised release date, although the up2date is available.

My understanding is that Up2Date will only take you from 3.052 to 3.2, not from 2.026 to 3.2.

Did I misunderstand the notice ?

You're absolutely correct, I should have read the announcement more carefully. It does only do 3.052=>3.2, the other 2.026=>3.2 is unavailable as yet. I guess it will probably wait till the final release, whenever that is.

I would hope never to see a 2.x to 3.x Up2Date - just think how badly it would fsck people over in terms of changed licence, etc...

umm.. update from 2.x to 3.x, sorry but my astaro sources say there wont be one because of the new kernel in 3.x  I was also advised to rehack my config as there "could" be some problems with uploading the 2.x config.
