I'm working on a User IP accounting for the Astaro Distribution. I think this is very usefull because most firewalls keep a log of users traffic.
I'm not sure how to implement this function but I probably need the Astaro Kernel source for adapting it. Because I think this is the big missing point of your security suite.
I'm not using a 2.4.2kernel succesfully where users have to login first on the router to obtain access to the internet. (User IP and accounting is been kept and you can assign MAX volumes per user etc. (Accounting weights etc.)(I'm not quiet sure the UserIP accounting module is supported for the 2.4.17 kernel but I will see) PS can you build in the the PPTP masq module into the Astaro package (or just sent me the Astaro Kernel source and I will do it myself) Or if you want, I also can send the source code to you.
As a hobbiest, and Linux+BSD fan I'm always willing to help you guys.
