SMTP & POP3 Setup!

Hi I have Astaro 2.016 and i try to setup my pop3 and smtp server.

(sorry i speak french normally! thanx!)

This is the situation : I have Outlook Express and the pop3&smtp servers is external to my office, the address is : mail.xxxxx.net port 110/25.  

Setup Astaro with this config : Definitions >> Servces >> POP3.full | tcp | 0:65535 | 110 | and activate on Packets filter >> Rules...
ans SMTP.full |tcp | 0:65535 | 25 | ans activate on Packets filter >> Rules...

So when i try to send or receive mail a always have this message : The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'mail.cmtek.com (gbedard)', Server: 'mail.cmtek.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

    since you say your POP3 and SMTP servers are external to you, the only thing you need to make sure, is that you allow people INSIDE your firewall to go OUT on the specific SERVICES.

    Keep in mind that the default setup allows NO traffic from the secure/inside LAN to travel to the outside world.

    You can see 
    here what I suggest people do, but perhaps you don't want to open all services.

    If you only want to open for POP3/SMTP traffic from your internal lan to the specified external servers, you need to do something like this:

    1. Define your local network in definitions
    2. Define the external server(s) in definitions
    3. Add packet filter rules for each of the two service

    And don't forget to masq your internal network to the external NIC on the firewall
