Accounting in 3.200

Accounting in 3.200 is BIZZARE... 

1. The interface and Addresses within the interface are on different screens. Queried Networks should be set with ACCOUNTING in under NETWORK - I THINK. What is the difference between a Queried Network and an Ignored Network?

2. One of the most useful features was traffic this month to date. This seems to be missing. Sure all the data is there, but it is not easy to get to... This is more important as many parts of the world are moving to limited bandwidth/month broadband.

    it's not bizzarre, it just became more flexible  [;)] 

    There are 3 separate screens:

    In Network->Accounting, you can select the interfaces where traffic data is to be collected. Adding an "Ignored Network" here means that data concerning this network will not be recorded ... at all.

    In Log Files->Accounting, you can download the sampled data for external processing. There is help on the format in the online help.

    In Reporting->Accounting, you can request that daily and monthly reports are generated on the sampled data. The "Queried Networks" here are the ones that reports will be generated for. The monthly overview function is missing ATM and will be included in an Up2Date package. I did not come around to add it before the release candidate.

    I have gone to Network|Accounting, and added an interface called EXTERNAL. Ignored now has EMPTY SELECTION.

    When I go to Reporting|Accounting I have EVERYTHING possible selected, and generate accounting reports is on.

    But there is no traffic listed.

    What makes things more interesting is if I EXPORT the log, ASL exports it. As a zero length file. I did not think that a zero length GZIP file was valid.
