Help with initial configuration

I am not exactly sure why I am experiencing such difficulty with this setup.  I am new to your product.  I tried it for the ease of administration, but I have wasted far to many cycles on the initial configuration.  I have  the basic configurations below:

Eth0 - Ip 192.168.1.100; Mask – 255.255.255.0
Eth1 - Ip  66.1.178.215; Mask 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway – 66.1.178.214
Client – Ip 192.168.1.101; mask 255.255.255.0; gateway 192.168.1.100

I enabled masquerading and used packet filter to open any client to any service, but nothing seem to allow my client access to resources on the internet.  

What am I missing?

    you have to masquerade your private network to your outer interface IMHO...

    sorry, overlooked that you did masquerading...

    Check, if there is another gateway defined for any NICs in your config. There must be one gateway defined for your external interface.

    Are you sure the netmask is right on the external interface? Are you sure you have 256 IP addresses
    which is what 255.255.255.0 represents? 

    Assuming you have setup masquerading properly and your rule properly and your default gateway on the workstations properly...

    I would then check first to see if you can ping or access the internet from the Astaro box, check you can ping all the interfaces of the firwewall.

    Always check basic connectivity before moving onto other things.
