DHPC problems re (A)DSL

My isp provides the official ip-adress through dhcp-lease. The lease time is 24 hours. It mights seem ASL has problems renewing the dhcp-lease.

After this period Im able to ping/traceroute the adsl/internet interface but no further. A reboot resolves the communication problem.

I have read that the Redhat "dhcp pump client" has had problems renewing the dhcp lease. Is the ASL using Redhat?

Do anyone have a suggestion for further investegating/resolving the problem.

Is a scheduled reboot the only solution?

Trond

  • I dont have astro so I dont know how it comes out of the pocket, but it sounds like you may have TCP blocked with default IPchains or something to that effect. Look over your forwarding and ipchains and see if there is anything in there that would deny your eth(int) to use the eth(out) for access to the net.
