Benefits of Astaro vs..

I was hoping someone could help me with answering some questions, I am hoping to get more knowledge on how Astaro firewall software can benefit a company in comparison to say, a cheaper solution for firewall type protection such as Norton Internet Security.
I know there is more functionality such as VPN and smtp filtering that can be done with Astaro, but from an actual firewall standpoint, what makes Astaro firewall protection better than a 50$ solution such as Norton's or BlackIce which also does packet filtering.

    I think the products that you mention are designed to protect a single (Windows) host.

    If you only want to filter traffic for a single (or very few) hosts, these solutions may be appropritate for you (although I would not trust them to really protect your data - FWs running on Workplace/Server machines are generally a very bad idea).

    ASL is designed as a complete "network border" solution, running on dedicated hardware.

    A firewall is like any other "main" network computer such as a web or ftp server, you want it to be as dedicated a machine as you possibly can so that there are fewer chances of a security breech.  If you have just one multi-purpose machine running everything and someone manages to get in, say from one of the many holes in some popular ftp servers then they have access to the other services on your machine.  If you have a "software firewall" such as Norton, Black-Ice, or Zone Alarm then once it is comprimised they are already on the computer you are trying to protect.
