Speed with ASL 2.016?

Recently installed ASL on a p3 450, 64mb of ram, 10 gb drive, and 2 pci 100mbit nics.

now, i'm the main user of my net connection, with is 1.5mbit DSL. Unfortunutly, everything is very sluggish! page loads take forever and I am getting about 10 - 20kb/sec sustained downloads, compared to pervious speeds of solid 150kb/sec with a hardware router + firewall.

Did i set up packet filtering incorrectly, or miss something somewhere, or is speed supposed to be this bad?! (dont think so..)

    There are a number of factors that may be  infuencing the performance of your internet access via your asl box.

    1. Are you using the squid cache for web content?
    2. What dns server(s) are you using, i.e. what configuration did you have before, and has much of that changed with your access via the asl box?

    I would start by looking at the performance of the asl box using the web admin interface.

    Also, is there a bottleneck between your default workstation and the dsl router in terms of network performance., i.e. did your hardware router/dsl box have an integrated 10/100BT switch, does your pc only have a 10Bt nic?
