ASL dies after DHCP patch (2.016)

All,

I have installed 2.016 from a clean drive on a PII-300/128MB/9GB machine about 6 different times.  Twice I have installed the DHCP package and that is when things go downhill...fast.  It works fine for days as long as I configure the outside interface by hand for my cable modem parameters.  Upon adding the DHCP package, the drive light stays on almost constantly.  This keeps up for about 48 hours and then the machine starts constantly rebooting.  Has anyone had this problem?  If so, did you ever find out what was wrong?

The product seems great but my cable modem provider renews addresses occasionally and I really need the DHCP client working.  I would greatly appreciate some info if available....
