How extensive is ASLs Stateful Inspection?

Hi,
Sorry for this perhaps stupid question. But I can't seem to find the information anywhere on astaro.com. 
Can anyone tell me how deep ASL will look in IP-packets? Does it only deal with basic IP-packet problems or does it even check for more high-level problems like known URL attacks on a web server in the DMZ?

Is there any links to more information about the IP-inspection in ASL?
