troubles with special "chars"

I have a strange question:
when I use special chars in passwords (characters that are not on the keyboard (ALT-Key + #)) on a server behind ASL, then i can not Login to the server. if I connect the server in the same LAN as the Client who wants to login, it works. If I remove the special char from the password, I can Login to the server trought ASL without any Problem. But with special chars no chance.

ASL is 3.020 Beta, but the "problem" was also with 2.019.

Any Ideas?
