I am thinking of using Astaro Security Linux (latest version) for use as my corporate firewall.

Currently, each computer and server in our office has it's own IP address. If I install Astaro as our firewall, can our internal machines continue to use their public IPs? Or would installing Astaro linux mean that I must switch over to a reserved IP class, such as 192.168.1.X?

You can use is Proxy ARP.

This will let you keep your public ip behind a firewall. I have not tested yet that feature but technically this will help you out.

I remember seeing docs on this try docs.astaro.org.

hi,

if you have access to the internet router you could configure a small "transfer network" (private addresses) and use your public IPs in your local LAN (no proxy arp needed). if you have no access to the router you could also try to get an official ip address range for the transfer network.
