high hdd activity

hi all,

i'm using vers. 2.019 since a day and have a very high activity of my hdd caused by qmail. stopping the qmail reduces the hddd activity to nearly zero. my pc has 256m ram and a 10g hdd, so there should be enough hw-resources.

any hints?

    I had the same problem when enabled the SMTP proxy. It was also eating tons of CPU resources. I had some problems with my mail relay, and I think there was some sort of a mail loop. To fix this problem, I followed the advice from another message: 

    "Make sure SMTP proxy is disabled in ASL.

    From the command line (as root) go to /sbin/init.d
    Type in './qmail stop' (without the quotes).
    If it barks because a qmail lock file is found, 'rm -f /tmp/qmail_lock-file' (without the quotes).

    Type in './qmail clean' (without the quotes).

    Type in './qmail start' (without the quotes)."

    But when I rebooted it looks like this problem might have resurfaced, so I ran this command again. Obviously not a great solution - your mileage may vary...

    What does the WebAdmin show when you check the QMail proxy.  Are there any message in the queue that are unprocessed.  If so you probalby have a corrupt message, and qmail keeps trying to send it causing extra load on the computer.  You might try cleaning the queues using clean_queue_from_delay_notification.zip

    Copy this script to the Astaro box and run.  It will clean out all queues.
