DLink DFE-530TX+ not Recognized

Hi Chris,

I DO NOT recommand D-Link interfaces in ASL or Linux in general, I've tried with 530-TX (rev A1 and A3) and 550... My links stays up and goes down, "network is down" error messages. I've tried with different drivers but I don't think that these interfaces works fine on Linux (ASL or any distro). So if your FW is not in production, I strongly recommand you to use some well supported interfaces (3com?  [;)] )

Thanks for the reply.  I have had these DLinks in place for 1.5 years without a problem.  I'd love to have 3C905's but that's not going to happen anytime soon.   [:(]

I have been using the 530-TX nic in 1.8x & 3.x of astaro without any problems. Actually I have never had any problems with the d-link nic's what so ever in any OS.

I had D-Links DFE-570TX installed on my astaros and are in production. Works fine ... i think.

It's true, i've got little problems with arp sometimes and others strange comportment. but i'm not sure at all that it's coming from the hardware D-Link ... My astaros are so hacked...

Philippe, if you can say which kind of bugs you can meet with D-Link. Maybe it would give me answers to ones of my wonders ...

Hi Chris,

we are using D-link 530 Tx since several month with no problems.
Last month I added a third one for DMZ also with no problems. After installation of hardware the third nic was recognized at bootup and workes since then.

This is interesting.  Hmm.  I had the same problem on an older box with a P133 in it with an earlier version (about last April) of Astaro, but I now am using a Fic PA-2007 with the two nics in it and when the install reaches the point of detecting the nics, it says no nics found. I will try moving them around in different slots but does anyone else have any ideas?  Is my system board too old?

My problems with D-Link interfaces were mostly error messages like "network is down" even if the interface is mounted and fully operational for sometime. I randomly have that kind of err msg.

On "classics" Linux boxes, I'd some problems too, mainly like on ASL, with link losts, and some very bad bandwith performance...

I had it with both REV-A1 and REV-A3

Did you guys ever think it might not be an interface problem?  Could be an incompatibility between NIC and Switch or Hub....  or even a cable problem! 

From all the NICs I have try with ASL 2.x and 3.x, no problem at all EXEPT I gat a defective cable once and some NICs where incompatible with my BayNetworks 24 ports shitch...   most of the time the problem was that the Swith port detect FULL Duplex and that the NIC has detect HALF Duplex...  Problem was solved by disabling the AUTO Negociation for HALF and FULL Duplex in the switch...
