"Selfmonitor: too much memory for single process"

Sorry for the crosspost...

Astaro works excellent, however yesturday I started getting "To much memory for a single process" errors as well as CPU usage spiked to 100% when it rarely goes over 10%. Other than that everything seems to be functioning normal, but I am concerned. Here is the log output of SOME of these strange events...

Does anyone have any ideas? Self-Monitor says that everyhting is ok at the moment (I restarted the box), but CPU usage is still pegged.

    What version of ASL do you use?
    I remember in a old 1.8X version was a problem with the selfmonitor, do you know the process with to much memory usage ('ps axwu')?

    Ok, I have an update for this issue. After being restarted it will shortly begin sending out the "too much memory" message with memory usage slowly increasing (as well as CPU usage being pegged the whole time), after about 2 days (in my case) it apparently reaches its limit and stops functioning completely, no webadmin, no routing, no firewall! It has to be physically rebooted. 
    Such is the case tonight, I will post the memory consuming process tommorow since I do not have access to the box now (obviously).
    It is the latest Astaro (version 2.019) and I am not using any proxy or nat'ing, but does have PPTP VPN enabled.

    Ok, the offending process is "/usr/local/bin/nacctd" and the reason Astaro went dead is because of all the extra log entries. The drive filled up and that was it for me. [:)]
    CPU usage is still pegged and the messages are still coming.

    I hate to employ the "shameless bump" tactic, but here it goes again.
    (per my notification email about 40 of them)

    ALARM - to much memory for a single process:
    65688 kb for /usr/local/bin/nacctd
    root      1698 90.6 20.2 65688 65052 ?       R    09:21 373:43 /usr/local/bin/nacctd

    Astaro Security Linux  2.019


    I estimate that sometime during the night it will go down. Does ANYONE have an idea?

    Just for future reference, guys.

    I got the usage and messages to stop by removing all of my interfaces from "Accounting", which I don't really need anyways. Or from a previous post:
    touch /etc/no-superdaemon/nacctd 
    killall nacctd 

    Same deal. Everything seems to be better now but I still don't understand how it would start doing this all of the sudden.

    The only problem that remains is that now my "Portscan-LiveLog" and my "PacketFilter-violation-LiveLog" are now both blank.
    Oh well..

    did you use gigabit ethernet? i know from a other  linux project that gigabit is too fast (or your cpu to slow for) for account and hash all packets in RAM with nacctd.
     
    perhaps it will also help if you decrease the flush time in /etc/naccttab.conf and the save interval in /etc/cronat-static (my 2c - yes, now we have also cent in europe ;-)

    I do not, however I was recieveing very high traffic (6.0mb / sec)sporadically during the time of the errors, maybe that triggered the problem.

    Thanks for the config tips, maybe I'l try it out.
