using keyboard LEDS instead of beeps

Hi there !
I have a problem with this:
My linux box doesn't have a Monitor or Graphics card and doesnt have a pc-speaker.
So i can't hear the nice beeps, astaro 2.0 makes  [;)]
(The pc should be quiet)
But is it possible to use the keyboard LEDs instead of beeps?
I have done this on another linux (SuSE 7.0) box and it shows its status with the NUM/CAPS/SCROLL Leds on the keyboard. (using the setleds command) But this command isn't implemented in ASL2.0. So how can i do it ?

    a nice idea, we can have both the LEDS and the beeps ... I forwarded it to our "boot process management team".

    Hi chrizzo,

    im the chief officer of the boot process management team and will test this good idea on a appliance without and with a keyboard. If this works both without a error we will implement it in our distro.
    What ligth signals would you suggest for which state (ready, running, halt)?

    hmmm. I would say one light for the boot process(Num) one light for the running network(caps) and one for the system ready for login(scroll),
    well, thats just my opinion, but on my other linux box i had this system and it is very informative...  [;)]
