ASL for Cobalts?

Hi there,

I found this website through the Cobalt developer network:
 http://developer.cobalt.com/sol/sol.php?sol_id=101 

I wonder if the AS-package for the Cobalt RaQ's is still in existence and maintained. If so, then we at Raqport.com would be highly interested in it.

    Hi Michael,

    yes there is a Astaro Security Linux Distro for Sun/Cobalt (with LCD support).
    You can visit us (with a demo RaQ3i) on the Systems in munich.
    You can test ASL (on a RaQ3i) with a online demo (admin:admin) and for self installing with a CDROM iso for download. 
    Please note: version 2.0 is not tested yet and need a flash eeprom update.

    Very good! I'll soon have a spare RaQ3i to play with and then I'll give your demo a shot.

    Oh, I see.

    Another question: You also have a regular linux version of ASL which comes with it's own custom tailored linux distribution.

    If I'd install that (not on a Cobalt of course), then how much control do I have over the OS? Can I still root the box and add other services which I'd like my firewall to have?

    Hi Michael,

    of course can you access your installed ASL as root and do what you want....
    But i do not recommend any additional software on the friewall and can not guarantee the proper function of up2date.
