this file should be 99.9% smaller ... can you just compile a quick list of what features with authentication you are using ?

also please shut down the aua with
/sbin/init.d/aua stop

the system should be safe to use then, we'll work on the matter and see what has to be done.

Well, I've been fighting with this for the last hour.  (trying to post this reply)

The only auth feature I'm using is the httpd proxy.  I want to use it to keep the kids of the internet.    [:)]on.

I renamed the file (proxyauth.ini) and put in an empty one and disabled the user authentication in the http proxy.  All seems to be working again -- save for the lack of authentication to access the internet.

Please let me know what I can do to help you debug this situation

./mdw_deamon.pl keeps start (I know it is supposed to) but it is taking up so much memory it is making my machine get sick.  It is swapping like crazy.

I'm running 2.010 -- will backing out the patches help?

as root, do this:


touch /etc/no-superdaemon/all
/sbin/init.d/mdw stop


this stops the respawning ..

then we can proceed to investigate ..

my mdw_deamon.pl is 6168900 bytes is this correct?

Right now I've got a script running that does a /sbin/init.d/mdw stop every 7 seconds.  This atleast lets me use the firewall...
