WEB and FTP

So, it might be a stupid question, but the World wouldn't be as good as it is if no stupid questions were asked.

Right, Astaro is a Linux distribution designed for one main purpose, that is to say a firewall... So, if I want to install a WEB and FTP server on my network, should I build another computer (expensive) or use the same machine ? The main question is : Is it possible to install Apache and a FTP Server on the Astaro machine ?

Second question that is a following of the first one : How do I transfer files from my computer on the network to the Astaro mahcine... ie I want to copy Apache latets version to the Disk of the Astaro machine but it is too big to fit on a floppy...

    In general, putting additional functionality on the firewall box is not an accepted best practice in the corporate space.  This is because you want to keep your security first line of defense as simple as possible, as well as to keep the number of exploitable applications as few as possible.

    That said, in a Small-Office, Home Office (SOHO) domain, it is possible to mount the additional functionality you need, bound into the DMZ or the Private subnet, using the bindings to the various hardware ETH(x) addresses.

    Finally, Apache and various other applications are installed already with ASL.
