Small isp.

Hi there, i was wondering if this setup would work for a small isp, meaning internet address on both the inside and outside, we just got brought to our knees the the nimda worm and would also like to know if this can filter out the worm request into our network, it's all linux, so nothing was infected, but most are still unusable due to the bandwidth usage..

so we still need to have access to webservers from the outside, but not nimda requests.

any info would help.. thanks..

    Astaro is flexible enough so that you can route packets to/from wherever you want, you aren't limited to a certain ip range on one of the interfaces.

    That being said, I don't think Astaro can filter incoming packets based upon the incoming http request, however. It can shut off ports perfectly fine, though, so you can kill all requests to port 80's of certain networks.

    I really don't know a ton about Astaro, though, I just use it for basic masquerade functions. Good luck.

    Zapf?? as in the Zapf i know, there can't be that many zapf's around..

    NiteOwl, you'd need to use something like Hogwash or setup Squid as a REVERSE proxy.

    It's definetely possible to get Squid to do this for http on ASL.
    It's probably possible to get Hogwash to filter all services in ASL. I'm working on Hogwash-IPTables in my spare time, but I NEED A COPY OF THE KERNEL CONFIG FILE FROM ASTARO!
