keyboard layout

I'm using a general QWERTY keyboard on our new Astaro system. Problem is that the keyboard keysdefenition is set on German, i think, on the Astaro system. How do i change this?

  • Hi Iris.net

these changes can either be made during installation or at the console.

Just select the correct keybord layout during installation.

This value is stored in the config file /etc/wfe/conf/console.
Here you find the actual settings of the Keyboard map.

you can change this to one of the following values:
    • us.map
    • de.map
    • es.map
    • it.map
    • nl.map
    • fr-latin0.map
      [/list]

After changing the keyboard map do /etc/rc.d/console start to activate the new keyboard mapping.

      And you are done.

      Hope that helps,
      kind regards,

      gert
  • Hi Iris,

I think that keyboard stuff is an issue for our FAQ - I'm going to propose that to Tom.

To solve your problem, edit /etc/wfe/conf/console to
    KBD: us.map
To help you editing this, do
loadkeys /usr/lib/kbd/keymaps/i386/qwerty/us to change to US Layout immediately.

    Greetings,

    andreas

Though Gert's answer is more userfriendly and nice to look at  [:)]
    Congrats,
