DHCP Client and DynDNS

I am currently using the DHCP scripts that giallu post refers to and it seems to be running ok with the exception of DNATing HTTP to my DMZ. (which is probably a routing problem of my own and not related to the firewall as such.) I would however be VERY interested in a solution for DynDNS.

Someone in another post mentioned that the ASL product is aimed at the Commercial market. The fact that 99.9% of commercial locations are going to have static IPs (or whole subnets) is going to cause the ASL development team to concentrate on other functionality. And so it should. I am not a coder but I am going to attempt to get DynDNS going on my box. Hell, I might even share when Im done.   [;)] 

My point is this: Those of us who are using this (exceptional in my opinion) product for FREE have no room to bitch about which functionality that the company sees fit to provide first. (notice that I said first. It is my hope that when it is possible the dynamic functionality will be added to the GUI) For the time being I think it is time that some of us that are getting a free ride get off our butts and contribute. Just my 2 cents.

As alredy said, the DHCP scripts from the Astaro docs attic do work and many people are using them   [:)] 
DynDNS is also achievable ( I'm using it    ) but the updater programme is dependant on the DynDNS provider so I can only comment on DNS2Go
They supply a .tgz package which can be installed, as per the instructions, on your Astaro box and run. Giving it an rc script for autostarting tidies things up and it works great.

Thanks Riggs. Just saved me a TON of time.  (especially since I have trouble scripting my name, let alone trying to code a DynDNS updater.)   

This may sound like a stupid question, but how do I get the downloaded files from my Local PC to my ASL firewall, since it does not have an FTP client or even an FTP server.
I read somewhere (in another post I think) that i needed to use 'scp' but what is the syntax for it.

Any help is appreciated.

scp is the "secure" replacement for the old rcp command, and you can use it with the same sintax. i.e.:

scp host:filename dest

for example if you're logged in pc A as jason and you want to get from pc B the file .ssh/id_dsa.pub in your home you just use:

scp B:.ssh/id_dsa.pub .

that's it
